Sodium malonate is a sodium salt of malonic acid with the molecular formula of C3H2O4Na2.

It is a white crystal compound showing its solubility in water and insoluble in organic solvents like alcohol, benzene and ether. It is a metal salt obtained by the neutrilization of malonic acid and sodium hydroxide solution. The compound is incompatible with oxidising agents. Sodium malonate dibasic can be use in the synthesis of sodium carbonate and sodium oxalate via wet oxidation and catalytic wet oxidation.
